A painting speaks a thousand words

I enjoy experimenting with various techniques, each offering a unique way to express creativity. For a long time, I focused on watercolor painting, which led to an exciting collaboration with my sister, José Strijbos. Together, we created the book Tussen Kleur en Gebroken Licht (Between Color and Refracted Light), published by Terra. The book pairs José’s poems—written from a child’s perspective and capturing the wonder of amazement—with my watercolor illustrations.

My journey into wildlife art began with pencil sketches of wild animals. These early drawings became the foundation for developing vibrant, expressive wildlife paintings on canvas using acrylic paint.

More recently, I’ve explored the unpredictable and dynamic technique of fluid art. This method embraces spontaneity, allowing for unexpected and often stunning results. I also enjoy combining techniques, such as blending fluid art elements with detailed acrylic work, to bring my wildlife paintings to life in a fresh and exciting way.

Every painting tells its own story, and experimenting with different methods keeps my creative process both inspiring and fulfilling.
